Top 5 3G Mobiles Under Rs. 5000 – February 2011

Top 5 under 5K is my personal favorite monthly story and I usually publish this every month before any other article of the Top 5 series. But did you notice this time we published this when half of the month is gone. That’s because surprisingly there was not a single 3G entrant in this segment last month. Currently in India, 3G is in trend and any 3G launch in entry segment price range will be taken hand to hand. Someone please let this know to the mobile makers fighting the dirty smartphone war in MWC in Barcelona.

Anyways, thanks to mobiles like Cedar and Nano whose prices slashed and I got something new to add in to the 3Glist.

5 Best Mobile Phones below 5K for February 2011

1. Nokia C2-01 : Rs. 3,799

Last month we reported this to hit the Indian market soon and now its in at a damn vfm price of under 4k. While this phone is loaded with 3G and all other essential internet features (e.g. OVI mail, SNS etc), it also sports a 3.2 Mega Pixel camera.

Priced a few bucks below to the above mentioned Nokia C2-01, it gives you an option of video calling with front camera installed, but compromises on other fronts like main camera and screen resolution.

    I am using samsung GT-S5350, 3.2mp back + 0.3 front camera, 100mb internal and 16gb external. Price under 5K. very good phone.

    Thanks for the important info, I have also zeroed in on Samsung Star Duos, but the only issue with this phone is resistive touch screen. Comparatively, Samsung Monte is far better, less priced with capacitative touch screen. I think I would wait for another 2-3 months before making a decision & meanwhile use another phone like the Samsung E1172.

    Dear Ashwin,

    Thanks for help, I bought LG Optimus one (P500) today after much contemplation – at last ! The mobile is good & am enjoying the feel. Please guide me regarding applications, etc.
    Thank you very much once again, but for your review, I would never have thought of buying this mobile. Otherwise I would have ended up buying a Kaamchalau mobile which would have stuck for 1-2 years !
